New to us, Don "keeps his S4
based at the High Easter strip in Essex which is where I live near a town called Saffron
Walden."
Dear Don,
Thank you for your positive response
and append my expanded first effort, now No. 2, at trying to make a group
info. e-mail.
The fuel tanks' control has
exercised my mind too, but am getting to grips with the options, & will
issue my findings when complete, shortly. Generally it does appear your
switching tanks by time 'method' is the surest so far, warts &
all.
The exhaust springs falling off into
the prop is popularly supposed only to affect 447 'pushers', but I also read
that the springs can be slackly steel wire secured individually through the
centre and then to each one's lug so at least they cannot fall away; the
silicone idea you mentioned, I don't comprehend ?
The brakes on mine are
straightforward drums, I'll s
be lubricating the cam spindle and
checking them when I visit the a/c again this week. My brother has discs
and we're looking at a way of assembling them so they run true to the calliper
and of course in line. So far I've turned up some thin Ali discs to stop his
spacer collar from slipping sideways a fraction when the three long bolts
securing it, tighten it onto its seating on the plastic hub.
As you see, I've added your name
to our list, but would ask if from your obvious experience with the
internet you could help thus;-
a) Can you find the names/addresses/
even e-mail addresses of the 'missing' owners and it might even be useful in locating the other Yellow
Chatteris S4 you mentioned in your area. Alternatively I'd be grateful if you
could at least find that guy.
b) A silly thing but I notice you
use AVG to sweep for gremlins. I've used the Free version from home for a couple
of years but now find that the update doesn't seem to connect & that's on my
wife's P.C. too. Do you happen to
know if they've dropped that facility, I expect you use the Professional
version; their web page still allows access to the whole free prog. but on non
broad band pay as you go that's an expensive option. I may be a flyer but
pensioner too.
Here's the U.K.owners list, but I'm unsure
if it has all the S5 nosewheel variants too.
Dave, can you please get
yout friend @ Dover to join in and give his name against the appropriate a/c ?
As well as tell me the name of that seller you mentioned to me from your
magazine (?) , I couldn't find it and we have so few S4's we need to get all we
can on board. Any other clues too, anyone.
Mike.
